recieved my test resuts this morning. i didn't get a complete analysis, should of. this is the first time i had my soil tested.results os soil:
ph-6.4
p -52(ppm)
k -94(ppm)
mg-197(ppm)
ca-1730.7(ppm)
cec-14.4(meq/100g)
acidity-3.9
k -1.7(%sat)
mg-11.4(%sat)
ca-59.9(%sat)

they also have it listed with lb/a. not sure what that is.

penn state has a chart that they put on my results, it shows that my mag and calc. are above optimum. my phosphate is listed as below optimum. they recommend that i add calcitic limestone(2000lb/a), nitrigen(75 lb/a), phosphate (105 lb/a), potash (120 lb/a). i've added 9 yards of composted manure and bone meal. this was all done before i got my test results. should i just add the limestone or other ammendments??? thanks in advance!!!

forgot, i also added fertilizer(14-14-14) and alot of ground up maple leaves(at least 250lbs). my patch is 804sq ft.

I dont see an OM, but it could likely go up, whatever it is at. I would shoot for the following...

pH. 6.4 --> 6.8/6.9 (calcitic lime)
phosphorous is good
potassium shoot for 150-200 ppm
magnesium is fine
calcium should go way up...shoot for 3000-4000ppm

I would say shoot for 80% CA, 10% MG, and 5% K, rest is H and Na.

I always take my samples before any additions so they dont get in the way. A sample after a season is going to be more accurate. If the piece they sampled was a piece of manure, it may skew the results.

Assuming the sample was correct, I would add the lime, and let whatever else you added do its thing over the winter and test again in spring.

jordan, should i add anything for potassium? and just follow directions for calcitic lime? thanks!!

In fear of adding too much at once, I would let the manure do its thing over the winter, and see about the K in the spring. As for the lime, perhaps Tremor could suggest some application rates. My pH. is high, so I use the opposite that you need. For sulphur I use 50lbs per 1000 square feet to drop the pH by 0.3. I am not sure how much lime it takes to do the same.

Thanks, i'll just go with the lime for now. i've added more munure, i expanded the patch by 300 sq ft, today. i'll let everything else work in and take another sample in spring. thanks again!!!
