Applying fish fert- to cover crop,Will this boost nitrogen ? If i spray fish & or kelp to the cover crop (winter rye grass) it will most likley get taken up by grass & grow faster thicker , but Question is does this get put into ground Via the composting grass after tilling into ground in the spring , or is it wast of time , will this help nitrogen levels in spring ( the fish emulsion) ?? thanks in advance !!!

Yup, from what I have read from the Montana State EDU they have recorded increased Potasium in Cow Poop when the cows ate Hay that was boosted with chems (NPK) passing it along in soil tested later.....it makes sense......its like the old saying garbage in garbage out....so I guess we look for Organic cow manure.......Geez

Old farmers say that when you plough a ley the second cereal crop following will be better than the first because it takes that long for the turf to decay and release its nutrients.
Does anyone know over what timescale a dug in cover crop will release its nutrients?
The Fish emulsion I used last year was 50% Nitric Nitrogen and 50% Ammonium Nitrogen roughly the same as in Ammonium Nitrate which I know is released up to 4-6 weeks so I guess it would be similar.

This article hints that some N is still being released from a rye cover crop the winter following so at least some of it is longer term.
