How are things progressing with your Seed sprouting. It has come to my attention you have now started an unofficial contest with Mr. Maybaby. Hopefully the seed you gave him was from a field pumpkin. Lol. Not that I'm hinting at any dirty tricks or anything. I'm very certain you haven't upset any of the growers here on this site. I encourage you to read and ask all your questions here. The growers here are very helpful, and have years of growing knowledge, unlike myself. I wish you all the best of luck.

Well, so far none of my seeds have sprouted, but lucky for me his hasn't either! We and neck and neck at this point it's anyone's game... haha

I just started one of the new seeds you sent. It's in potting soil on the heat mat. The other seeds I had started were all rotted. I'm going to try to start some more tonight following all of the instructions exactly, and hopefully it will work out. Thanks for checking in! I'll keep posting the progress, there just hasn't been much progress to post. :)

You mentioned your seeds were rotten . It sounds like your soil might be to wet. Your soil should only be moist. You don't want to overwater. When you grab a hand full of soil and squeeze it, water should not squeeze out, if it does it's to wet.

I had it just moist, but after about 10 days I gave it more water. I think I over did it. Just planted 3 more of yours. I filed snd soaked them for a few hours. The soil is just moist. Covered the peat pots with plastic wrap

I put them in my night stand on top of a blanket with the heat mat uner it. I was thinking maybe they were getting too hot. I meant to pick up a thermometer tonight & forgot. I will grab one tomorrow.

May Baby, soil temp thermometer is a needed tool. Or how else will you know? I mix my soil starting mix w/water, just until I can squeeze it, and no water droplets fall out of the bottom...that is moist!!! If water runs out, it is wet!! Peace, Wayne

Hi Wayne,

I think I have the moisture right from what others have said and pictures/videos. Thermometer is necessary. I am a slacker, totally forgot. Going to run out tonight.

I looked at your diary, good growing Maybaby. Are these the ones you are going to go with? I'm not sure about your growing area whether or not it's too early unless you can keep them indoors for a good length of time based on your last frost date. You could probably have time to start new ones and call these your practices. Either way keep up the good work, and grow them big. PS best of luck...

Hobbit, I'm not sure yet, I have a couple others I need to try. I think I've got the sprouting down a little better. :)

Good growing Maybaby. I planted 7 seeds, 4 came up completely in 5 days 3 at 6 days. All showed signs of sprouting at 4th and 5th day respectively. Do you know the direction they will vine out? It's important for when you put them in the garden. They will grow opposite the direction of your first true leaf or the third leaf. Your first two leaves ( Round ones) are not considered true leaves.
