Ok I now have a pumpkin that weighs about 350 pounds. It will be ready soon. I have a tractor with a bucket. I can attach a lifting ring to the bucket and lift it with a ring. How do I make a ring? FYI - I am a woman. I'm not brawny enough to move it with a tarp. All suggestions are appreciated. The same plant also has 5 other pumpkins that are smaller. They are all 100 - 200 pounds each. It was a great plant. I started it late due to an accident and head injury this spring so I just let it go jungle style and grow lots of pumpkins.

my first year..i lifted my 580 pound pumpkin by myself with an engine hoist. It didnt move very well on the dirt, so I purchased an old tractor to use after that. I didnt have a lifting ring the first year, so i used many tie down straps to go around the pumpkin. It took me about 6 hours to lift it into the truck but i made it. If you have a tractor and bucket it shouldnt be so difficult...just use lots of straps to spread the weight out and you will be fine.

Yea... Tie a rope aroumd the bottom of the pumpkin that can't slip up and off...attach straps to that rope and hook to tractor bucket ...good luck...!

go to auto parts store purchase 3 20 foot tow straps about 20 to 30 bucks a peice. find a heavy rope tie a loop in one end so you can slide it thru itself to sinch it up. put tow straps over top of bucket and let eyelets just touch the ground. make sure straps are evenly placed around pumpkin. pull rope thru all of the eyelets and then pull it thru the loop you tied in one end and sinch it up tight then pull end behind 2 of the straps so when you lift it pulls the straps tight and hlods rope from pulling out. you can pick any size pumpkin this way and cost is around 100 bucks. good luck, i hope this helps

A big blanket or drop cloth with 4 guys,one on each corner worked for me my first year.Just roll it up enough to get the blanket under it.

A cheap plastic tarp works great for lifting pumpkins that size, if you have enough strong buddies. Maybe get one big enough that you have to fold it double for extra strength. You should provide something as a thank you, maybe their favorite beverage??
