I've got a main vine that curled in an almost a complete circle..about 5" diameter. It curled up and back toward stump and down to ground. I'm sure it will complete it's circle and continue along the same line but not sure. Anybody seen this or advice. I plan on letting it grow and see what happens. I also have a main that split into two vines like a perfect Y. I'm guessing let them grow and treat the best one as the main?

I've seen it curl back when it's planted backwards...just make sure reposition when it's warm out...if you think it'll curl back around without kinking , let it go...yes to the double main... Pick the stroner one...

It curled about 5' out. I've grown pumpkns for 30 years but never paid attention. First year with the AG. Read something some place about curl vine. Your Mohawk Valley winds hit here with the big time tunnel affect. I did have three kins this morning on my best plants. You're going to have to go to Saraoga for the Weigh Offs. I aint't going to Oswego without my boat!

I have tried using a few thin short wood stakes from my son's wood scraps to anchor down my vines in a very gentle way. Pork Chop is correct in doing this in the warmest peak of the day and only a small amount. My first year, I tried my best to plant my pumpkin with the vine in the right direction only to have a stubborn main head backwards. My son helped my use longer scraps of wood to slowing bring the stubborn vine back to the right position. Eventually everything worked out fine and I am sure your's will too!!

They always curl up when they are growing out. This one just forgot to stop curling. Made a tight circle about the size of my hand. There is no straightening. On my way fishing..check when I get home. Bass are biting like crazy on Lake George. Got to love the Adirondacks!!

Checked the vine two days later and it is running straight back and then up searching for sunlight under the canopy. I've got room to run it wherever it decides to land. The curl is so tight I don't dare touch it. Healthy and had grown a foot since I first spotted it. We'll see what happens.

Sounds good and maybe with some added length in growth the plant will straighten itself out a bit.
