I was wondering if its normal to see alot of the oldest leaves on the plant begin to get dry and rough to the touch and get yellow forming then brownish edges and then die.Seems to be centrally located around oldest areas of plant..i have sprayed "companion " and clove/garlic spray on them every other week.Is this normal behavior?Melon patch seems same thing.Plants were germinated on 4/10/15.

Yes there is some normal aging on the first leaves at about 60-80 days old. This can be accelerated by plant stress, spray damage and disease pressure.

A picture would help us find the root cause. Are these just the smaller leaves from the original plant before it vined and started putting out big leaves? Or are these the biggest leaves radiating out from near the stump? It is pretty early in the season for the latter.
