I have two pumpkins that put on some rediculous size the last two days! I don't know what happened to cause the huge increase is size compared to the last few weeks but it's got me worried... What should I do/avoid to help prevent a split?

many things can contribute to splits 8buck

blossom end blowouts are usually caused by a combination of thin walls and upsurge in growth.be it from several incjes of rain-excess nutrients-genetics plays a roll as well

rib splits --- from an internal crack (or two) inside the pumpkin. favorite name is a dill ring( or sag line) also much more dangerous than a blossom blow out. internal ctacks can break through pumpkins surface at the point where the indentation intersects with a deep rib in the pumpkin. excess growth due to same as above can cause a pinhole or even a deep crack into the cavity.

as far as avoiding a split. to may things determine your chances. how old is the fruit? what are the daily averages for a week? a few pounds upsurge does not mean a blowout.look for the signs as noted above.
