When you plant the seedling in the garden, do you plant it deeper than it was in the pot. If you do what do you feel you gain by doing this? thanks, Kathy

good question
plant the seedling with soil up to (just almost)touching the seed leaves.
helps the plant root faster and also anchors the stem from breaking from any wind etc.

we place a plastic ring (cut out from top of a 1 gal pot)around the seedling to prevent cut worms from eating the stem.

we also form a soil ring (about a ft and 1/2 circle) around the seedling to help hold some water from running off when we do hand water.
