I have one pumpkin that has a split in the stem that is close to the pumpkin. I used a zip tie to hold the stem together and then applied captan. My quetion is: should I remove the zip tie or let the stem grown around it? The split is not in the meat of the pumpkin, just the stem. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

get rid of the zip tie.splits happen when the pumpkin grows faster than the stem(can handle) where they connect. if its not growing into fruit much youll be okay.a little captan or sulfur powder and keep it dry
