Orange Patch

the water fresh from the tap has a ph of 5.8-6.0
after sitting a few hours is rises to 6.9-7.0
why would it rise?
is the lower ph bad for the plants if I used it directly?

Very common are you using tap or well water?
What was the temperature of the water when you tested it...As it is allowed to breath it interacts with the air around it and increases the PH. It would be interesting to put it in a jar and seal it.

I forgot to mention what was causing it..The Dissolved Carbon Dioxide in the water releases...causing the rise
