The photo is a little out of focus but there are som white extensions that come up from the base and are on the edges of the lobes. I have heard about seeds in the blossum before but never experienced it. Is that what this is? If so what is the prognosis for the fruit?

You may be okay on that one.when the pedal is removed, check where the nipple meets the blossum scar.If the nipple(thats what I call the protrusion)is a symmetrical cylinder where it meets the scar then its OK.If the side of the nipple has any kind asymmetrical bulge thats like a hernia and dont go with it.

I lost a pumpkin from my 1818 Bryson that had seeds in the flower. The pumpkin started looking deformed a day after pollination. After I culled the fruit I noticed one deformed node and a bunch of white seeds.
