When I put my plants in the ground back in May I put a soaker hose wrapped around each plant about a foot away from the stump. Now that the stump has grown I,m afraid I could get some stump rot. Looking back I should had never wrapped it around the stump but I guess that's one of many of my rookie mistakes. Question is should I stop using the soaker hose to give my plants water and just do it by hand?
Thanks in advance for any input.

If its only a foot away from the stump, I would discontinue use of that soaker hose and water another way.

Looks like I will cut it. Just one more thing to do today in the 100 degree heat.

a 2 ft diameter circle should be fine, especially if you bury the drip tape. The stump area takes a lot more water than the rest of the plant area. it helps to have a way to replenish that water.
