Some people do it for 20 years. Rotating crops is usually the best policy but just isnt possible for everyone. Send me a lobster and I will send you some seeds. :-)

Steve Connolly does it year after year, but he nourishes the soil to an incredible extent with beneficial microorganisms and organic material.

If you're amending your soil and especially if you're doing soil tests to know which amendments to add then you should be safe with soil nutrients. Using crop rotation to foil pests... well I think they'll just find them no matter where you rotate that crop, except maybe in a hoop house or under row cover. As far as helping with diseases you'd either have to sterilize your tiller, hoe, shovel, shoes and what not between working in each patch. That or each garden area have it's own tiller, hoe and pair of shoes you wear while working that area. Otherwise you'd be spreading disease through your tools or just by walking. Just my humble opinion.
