Looking good Uncle Ed. First time for me too and am nearly at an all time pb with 35" on day 25. I'm growing on a secondary as my main vine one was badly scuffed and I made a hasty decision to cull. We have had really poor weather, not much sun and very overcast so I guess I should be happy with mine.

Think I will have to eat humble pie and label myself a fool afterall. i just realised that I have been measuring the circumference under and over the pumpkin and not parallel to the ground. Woops. Off to the plot with a tape measure

No offence taken Pumpkin Jam ;)
I think the trouble with us rookies is that we make hasty choices but thats all part of the learning curve I guess.
Anyway, Uncle Ed, remeasuring with cc 41 and OTT 101 gave me 29 lb on day 26. Guess I should be happy it is growing but must do better next year and stick to the primary

Thanks Handy, I think you are right and while logic would suggest a primary is always the vine of choice, I did read an old post whereby someone mentioned that too few are grown on secondaries for a real good comparison. Now I dont know if that is true as I am a beginner. Also read that if target is say 500-1000lbs then go for it but if you want to get more serious then consider primary. Guess its my first year so it will all go down for future reflection. Thanks for everyones imput. Remeasured today with cc 45" and OTT 109" so pumpkin grew 4" cc since yesterday which is encouraging, just hope it continues for the season and doesnt slow down

k thanks for throwing that in there. I can laugh now. Spraying for bugs and then for rot and going to feed her today. Hope that isn't to much in one day. Plus it rain nice rain yesterday. I am going to wait a few hours before which one. My wife goes in for her knee replacement tomorrow. I won't have time this week end. Have a good week end all.

Knee replacement whoa! My thoughts are with you Ed and a speedy recovery for your wife. I guess she will need you more than the pumpkin does at the moment.
