I noticed several leaves getting brown spots near the stems and upon looking on the underside of the leaves I found several infestations of aphids and what appears as hundreds of eggs all over the underside of the leaves. I dusted with sevin dust but I am not sure that this will be effective. Any suggestions on treatements and will this destroy my season?

MERIT OR BAYER TREE & SHRUB,only good for 3 weeks I just retreated plants for the 3rd & final time, you may have stink bugs if your seeing eggs, you may need to spray for Squash bug(stink bug)

Handyhomegrown, thanks...I have seen stink bugs on the plant. Will the Bayer tree and shrub work for both the stink bugs and aphids and can I spray it now or wait since I put sevin dust on the leaves.

Bayer Tree and Shrub,, does not,, i repeat does not work good fer stink/squash bugs.. we lost our southern patch to them,, this year,, get some talstar or cyonara,, or equivilant,, sevin, says it will kill them,, but washs off with water and rain

Bullock, like Cntryboy said to me, a systemic (Bayer TS) is revenge killing. You also need a good spot\contact insecticide like Curtlave said. I use products containing Bifenthrin (Orthomax) as I think Sevin is a little hard on the leaves. I have not had problems so far this year.

Merit (systemic) is great for aphids. Long residual and only takes a small amount to treat the problem.

Great advice Luke.
