Is there a nickname for when the blossom end is inverted into the pumpkin? Everyday the kin grows over the blossom button like a mouth swallowing it. I have one of these and am wondering if these are more prone to splits etc. I bet by day 40 I won't be able to see the button anymore. Thanks

Mine usually do that, I have not noticed that they split any worse than any other ones.

I had a sucked in blossom last year that I could stick my arm in...all the way to my elbow. I used a block of foam early on to try to keep it from growing "closed" but that didn't work. Made it to the scales but I was nervous the entire season.

wheels usually do this......i think these sunken blossoms worry everyone....I have a wheel going now and it is getting more sunken everyday and only at day 18. very thin wall i bet.....
be worried about it or not.....if its the only fruit on the plant you have to deal with it.
Expect the worse.......that way you wont be dissapointed!!!

It's on my 1165 Marsh, but isn't a wheel. I plan on keeping it, but was just wondering if this was normal. My other 2 kins have flat butts.
On a side note, did anyone else grow this seed (1544 x 1276 Marsh)? It is by far my most agressive plant and I allocated it just a little room with intentions of using it just for pollen. It is also looking to go very orange. I crossed it with the 1059.
Thanks for the replies.

I have had them in the past, not an issue. All I have seen like that tend to run heavy to chart with all the extra flesh inside.

Good point Wilbur. As one grower stated last year when mine was weighed...."there's a whole lotta pumpkin in there that we couldn't measure" LMAO......

sounds likes it's wheeling....avoid a "bird bath" keep lifting the vine so the inversion doesn't hold water. keep tipping it tqwards the nose...holding water could be mush before to long.
