Has anyone else gotten these small indentations within hours after a heat blast of over 100 temps? They are both on the same spot where the tarp was touching the white sheet that was over the fruit. This happened to another grower and they eventually lost the pumpkin after the spots went soft.

Look like bug markZ or even a bird....? Did the tarp have metal eyeletZ? Wind against the edge of the tarp?

The skin isn't broken at all... it's like a brand but indented in and smooth. Nothing leaking out. Same spot on both pumpkins 25 feet apart that gets the most sun where the tarp was pressed against the kin. I think the tarp trapped the heat in and since was not set up like a canopy with air flow, it baked the skin. Both appeared within a few hours after the sun cleared the back trees and were in the shade.

Cross you fingers, and hope she makes it, it should be kicking into gear so you will know within the next few days if the growth drops off.
The only time I ever put a tarp over a pumpkin is in the fall when it is going to rain and I want get the pumpkins covers all soaked and loose the internal heat.
Most growers either use just a light colored sheet or build a shelter for there pumpkins using a suspended tarp or something similar.
A tarp right over a pumpkin is an oven this time of year and that is something you definitely don;t want.
Good Luck!
