Hi. I have not seen this before but bear in mind it is only my third year lol. There is about a 1/2" long x 1/8" split touching near old blossom area. I am not sure how deep it is but it does not seem to be growing. Is there anything I can plug it with etc. such as silicon or something like this. Basically what should i do hahaha? Pumpkin is just over 500 pounds and growing about 20 pounds a day. Really cold here this summer so most of summer it has been slow growing and mine are about 500 pounds off where they were last year at this time. It just started around 20 pounds a day though. I am guessing put anti fungal powder or something like this. Any help is most appreciated. I will attach a photo tomorrow. Thanks. STeve

Split now one inch long and 1/8" wide. Is there any way to stop this on this end of pumpkin? I had problem like this two years ago near stem and did a lot of slicing in stem as I remember to reduce pressure. however this end seems completely different lol. This one is looking really good too. I am tempted to cut off water supply a bit or cut some side vines off to slow growth. Any info is appreciated. Thanks. Steve

Try latex caulk and/or the green ooze from pumpkin stem ends if you have some.

Hi. Thanks. I will get on that this morning. I figured there must be something to try. I am going to just caulk around the whole blossom area quite a bit lol. Cover anything that may open later too hahaha. Thank you again. Steve

Hi. I put the latex all around the blossom and covered both splits. Neither seems to be growing and the smaller one actually seemed to be becoming smaller- could be wishful thinking though hahaha. It is interesting that this shape of pumpkin has often split on me while the long low ones don't ever seem to have this problem at all for me. These seem to grow faster though. I am guessing there must be a secret to keep these from splitting as this one came out of a seed from a 1300 plus pounder so the must get big without cracking. How do I know if the caulking has taken? I guess if it keeps growing and doesn't split more right? hahahaha. I also noticed that the wall at the blossom was incredibly thin. Is that normal at this size or is this a flaw in this pumpkin. It still looks shiney and is still growing well so i will hope for the best. Thanks again. Steve
