Hi. Its been about ten days since my pumpkin has been pollinated. Its a little bigger than a softball, is it growing to slow? Also, when should i get potassium fertilizer. Last year I didn't use I and got a crappy pumpkin. What is good, and where to get it? Is a 0-0-60 the way to go or is that to strong. Thanks!

Softball size is OK for just 10 days. Relax and just it grow...it might just surprise you on its own!

Pumpkin-Eater. Nobody can click the links as they are not hyperlinks. You have to open up another windows explorer and copy and paste it into where you put web addresses.

Look for any fertilizer with a high 3rd number at your local gardening centers. You could also use potash, or you can go to http://www.extremepumpkinstore.com/ and order some of this http://www.extremepumpkinstore.com/ecom-prodshow/potassiumgal.html which will provide potassium to your soil. Seaweed is also a good source, but probably better applied as a foliar

That is what I am using. Your pumpkin probably won't really start to take off until around day 20, so I would not be concerned about the size at the moment. If your soil is well amended with manure and other goodies, you should not need to use very much of the 0-0-25. By day 25 you should be putting on 20 pounds a day. If not ,I would fertilize and see if you get an increase.
I read a very good thread that said not to give the plant any if you are getting big daily weight gains. When it slows down to close to 20 a day than give it some .
Mine whent from 30 lbs a day for a week, than suddenly dropped down to 20 lbs/ day. I puchased a "ortho spray and dial"(you put liqued fert. in it and hook your hose to it) so I could spray under the canopy to get the entire root system real good. Within two days I was back into the 30+ lbs a day, and have been there for about two weeks now. I also did a foliar with it several weeks ago,but not the same week I sprayed it under the canopy. Good luck !!
