I planted my plants with the intent for them to grow away from the first true leaves and leaned them a little bit in that direction. Now they are pretty much upright and I am concerned about getting them to lay down and headed in the right direction. Any advice would be appreciated.

HG, go to yer local Wallyworld store...buy a couple pkgs. of bamboo skewers...used to grill shrimp, etc!!! Slowly, and I mean slowly, during the warm part of the day, train yer plant to go where you want it to go...One set of X's on top...slowly moving to the correct direction, and holding it nearer the ground...and another set of X's underneath, to help w/ direction, and (important) not letting it lay down too quickly!!! Hope this helps!! Peace, Wayne PS...some folks use the ends of plastic coat hangers on top!!! 1 hanger makes two hold downs!!! Once vines are on the ground is the time to cover (bury) vines!!! Vines will develope roots at each leaf node!!! Same should be done w/ secondary vines!!! Hope this helps!!! Peace, Wayne Try search bar on home page!!!

Shane your plants look good. Most of them are ahead of mine. I had some early season screw ups this year. But the 1354.5 shot straight up and keep going. I mounded a couple inches of soil in front of it and then slowly staked it down once a day 3-4 days. Hope that helps you out once they vine out. Ryan

Wayne, I stopped by Wallyworld on Friday night and picked up the bamboo skewers. Things are now headed in the correct direction. Thanks

lis, opposite of the first true leaf (as main vine direction) is a generalization, that works most of the time!!! Sometimes it takes a lil coaxing (tilting the plant in that direction, at time of transplant helps) to make em do what they need to do...remember, YOU are the boss!!! That being said...do it gently during the heat of the day when vines are supple!!! Please!!! Peace, Wayne PS...once out in the pkn patch...there is "heat and light" everywhere!!! Or at least we all hope there is!!!

That said, I have at least one that wants to go in the opposite direction. To correct it I would have to slowly turn it 180 degrees or have it grow straight up and then inch it over....but that would make it upside down. I love this ag growing thing.....
