This is my first year planting and I've chosed Dill Seeds. I'm limited on space and only have 6 foot by 30 foot space. Is this sufficient room to grow a 100lb. pumpkin?

I saw your diary post. It is a little narrow, unless you can remove the woven wire fence and let the vines spread some. But it shouldn't take a huge area to get just 100#.

180 sq ft, I would double dig the entire patch, add a few wheel barrel loads of mushroom manure to the mix. Get on a folliar feed program along with some type of bug/fungicide spray routine.

Grow the plant in a flag pattern, with some luck and good weather you should get a hundred pounds no problem.

Growers have grown 1000+ in 300sq ft.

I will remove the fence once the plants start to take off. We have way too many rabbits that like to hang out in our yard. My husband wants to kill them, but I won't let him. I really appreciate the input. I purchased some neptune harvest fertilizer. Fish/Seaweed I added the manure before I planted. I'll need to locate some mushroom manure and what type of bug/fungicide to you all use?

I disagree with removing the fence. Terminate the secondaries as they reach the edge of the patch. Set the pumpkin 12 to 15 feet out on the main and let the last 2 or 3 secondaries just before the pumpkin grow out to the end of the patch.I've grown a couple 400+ pounders in a 4' x 24' area doing this.

Great! I am so afraid to get rid of the fence due to the pesky rabbits. A couple of 400 pounders in a 4x24 area? That's incredible! Now I am really stoked! I've been bitten by the bug! We had such a horrible long winter here, that I'm just excited to be outside and have plenty of time to take great care of the pumpkins. Watch my diary and I'll update more and soon as they come up.

Awesome pics Tammy and great gourd! :) This does give me alot of inspiration for the giant marrow I'll be growing this year. My area is about 4-5 times the space you grew your huge 700lb pumpkin in. I was concerned I wouldn't have enough space.

Sorry for the confusion, I should have made that clear in the beginning. Its a picture that inspires me to believe I can grow a giant in limited space and thought it might also inspire Kansasgirl :)

If those pesky rabbits get into your plant or fruit, you'll be begging your husband for some rabbit stew.
Good Luck!!
