I've read in a few places that people sometimes dip their seeds in an anti-fungal or some sort of mix to help them start rooting. What is it, and is it helpful? I'd like to break 500lbs. this year and need every little bit of help.

most people will soak there seeds in hydrogen peroxcide 3%, use a 1 to 10 ratio with water(90% water 10% peroxcide) on that.

another thing people will soak them in is kelp, athough I never did it that way. so I dont really know the ratio they use with water on that.

I'll let my seeds soak for 6 hours.

Hi Dusty, Alot of growers use mycorrhizae fungi in there starting soil to help boost the plants root system. And then throughout the season continue to add a pinch of it under each leaf node as you bury your vines.
This year I mixed in a product called root shield for my watermelon seedlings, I didn't have one watermelon damp off on me.

Thanks. I had no idea about the hydrogen peroxide. What's the purpose of that - to kill things living on the shell? I was thinking of an anti-fungal liquid that would help after it emerged from the shell as well.
