HARBOR GROWER

Gig Harbor, Wa

In a limited area, say 25'X 19', what is more inportant, the length of the main vine or the secondary vines? If you run the main vine in the 25' direction, you can set further out and have more secondaries but they will only be about 8'-9' long. If you run the main vine in the 19' direction, you will have less secondary vines but they will be up to 12'+ long. Any help here would be appreciated on which direction the main should run in this situation.

Length unlimited, sides 12' if possible but you might need to keep them to 10'.

Sweet, to see Tremor back!!! But if patch is only 19' wide then secondaries would need to be cut at 9.5'... !!! LOL Sweet to see ya back, Steve!!! Peace, Wayne!!!
PS...sorry HG!!!
I would run the plant down the middle of the 25' length...let secondaries grow out as far as possible, curve a couple early ones back, and the rest of em...sorta forward...maximize yer space...more power!!! SPIDER

My patch is only 19 feet wide...I grow 9 ft secondaries..not optimal but you can grow a respectable size pumpkin in that area..I do like the spider pattern to optimize the limited area. I basically prune to look like a pitchfork front and back of the plant. mark
