Hi all...My question is how deep do AG roots go down NORMALLY. Not quite sure how big to make my moundsBB

they dont really go down as much as they spread out. most root activity id say takes place within a one ft depth from surface area. thats another reason why soil drenches work so well on ag plants.

dont worry about mounds just get soil right and you will get rewarded big time.

The advantage of mounds is that by being higher than the rest of the soil, they will warm up quicker. This gets your plants off to a faster start. Also if your soil tends to be a little wet in the spring the mounds will dry out quicker. If you make mounds, don't make them too high or too small. They need to be wide and have gentle slopes so that when the main vine lays down it won't bend too far and break. I learned this the hard way several years ago.

Ive used mounds and had problems laying down the vines because of them, i suggest no mounds.
