Hi again. Our competition is in four days time and I was wondering if there is anything I should or shouldn't be doing right now. Pumpkin still seems to be growing albeit slowly. The kids and I are very excited and just wanted to see if there were any last minute tasks we should complete.
Thanks again, Sheryll.

Sheryll, have you estimated the weight? How is it doing? Good luck in your competition.

Hi all and thanks for the luck. I think our baby is around 110 lb and for us we think it's massive :) Hope I don't lose mine as it's certainly been wet here.
Walton, did your pumpkin rot?
Thanks again, Sheryll.

Good Luck Sheryll. We're rooting for you! Is there anything under that baby to promote drainage?

Nothing under my baby to promote drainage :( and way too late now. Comp is tomorrow so my next question is do I cut it off the vine tonight or in the morning. Are there any secret tricks like soak the stem in water etc. Trying for every last pound here.
Sheryll.

The "heavy hitters" in the Pacific Northwest wait until the last hour to cut the vine. Then, they stick the two ends into gallon milk containers filled with water and then wrap the two together with duct tape. The final cut is made when the pumpkins are unloaded from the back of the pick-up at the weigh-in site.
