I am a first year grower with not a whole lot of success. I have been on the site quite a few times trying to learn, and someone suggested getting "Dick's Tips". If anyone could help me I would appreciate it. Thanks, Joe Z.

I have never read Dick's tips, but have read good things about it, a lot of people have said very goods things about it. There is a very knowledge man that frequents these message forums by the name of "PAP", He can get you a copy if they are still available, I am sure someone will chime in on how to get a hold of him.

I also recommend you pick up "How-to-Grow World Class Giant Pumpkins The All-Organic Way" I have read this book, and it is a pretty good book. it only cost $2o.

IF you need seeds, don't buy them off ebay or other sites. Hit the Seed Exchange message forum, There are plenty of growers that offer there seeds for free. The thing you have to do is ask nicely and send the a saff addressed stamped bubble mailer.

Good luck,

I also recommend you go through and read grower diaries for this year and years past, that way you can have an idea of what growers are doing to grow big pumpkins.

If I were you and I had the money I would buy the book PP sugested and Dick's tips. Pap ( aka Dick) will see this post and tell you how to get one.

Personally I think for the new grower "How-to-Grow World Class Giant Pumpkins II and III have better "how-to tips". Dicks Tips is also excellent for new growers!

Money raised from the DT2 goes to the Orange Angels Fund (OAF) that buys coats for needy kids. Pap, put up a link for that again, that's a good book and a GREAT cause.

im presently working now with many of the top growers in the world putting together a coats for kids seed promo package.

seeds from at least 30-35 of the top pumpkins grown in 2009 will be offered in the package.

all proceeds will go to buy coats for needy children at three elementaly schools in the area.

I would like to thank everybody for the suggestions and help. I just finished reading "How to Grow World Class Pumpkins II" and just last night ordered "How to Grow World Class Pumpkins III". It will be a Christmas gift from my wife. Thanks again for everybodies help.
