What direction do you grow your plants in ? Are you running the main north to south ,east to west , or so on . Is there any one better direction to run them ? Thank you for the help!!

If I can choose, I would take the same direction of the main winds. Don

most generally grow north to south. Let your main vine head south, your secondaries will then be east/west for most part. Steve

hoppy, Which ever direction works out best for your patch should be just fine. My 1096.8 was on a plant grown in a westerly direction, my 1061 was grown northerly and my 1024 was grown southerly...Joe P.

If a slope were addressed, is it better to grow up, down, or across? Thanks

I have tried it all different directions and the only difference I've noticed is that when the prevailing wind blowes from the stump to the tip of the main I seem to have less wind damage, powerdy mildew, and the leaves don't seem to break down as fast...

Last year I planted on top of fairly high mounds and the plants grew downhill in all directions because of this.It might make a differance,I've heard that if you point the growing tip of Fruit trees downhill the plant puts its energies into side growth and they do this on purpose when training espaliers.Anyone have experience of this?

my plants like to grow twords the morning sun and the plants get sun all day this has worked well for me as the wind blows across my patch in an easterly direction most of the time i use wind breaks to lessen wind damage i had 1 plant growing that i trained to head west and it had lots of wind damage and almost lost it while the other plant lost only 1 or 2 leaves
