I've had my 3 big fruits covered in white sheets, basically just lying on the pumpkins. The sheets stay wet a lot from all the rain and nightime fog.I lifted one up this morning and there is some yellow colored jelly like substance on the top. Not a lot but just wondering if it's ok to leave the fruits uncovered for a couple of days.By uncovering them for a short period will this slow growth down?

You should be fine. I take mine off to get some air and sun from 4pm-7pm every night.

There is a post about this today on the general discussion page. The jelly like stuff is just the pumpkin repairing itself. Sometimes as they grow they get little stretch marks, little splits or spots in the skin, they ooze the jelly much like we form scabs.

Yeah it just dawned on me that it's probably not a good idea to leave a constantly wet sheet on the pumpkins without airing things out.

We've never had issues with damp sheets sitting on the fruit. The sheets dry by noon. Leaving them naked in the sun is worse....then again we've never had this kind of summer rain either.
