Sorry for all the questions but here is another one.....My 1019 Garrell flat vined at around 3 feet, then split off into 2 mains which are at about another 10 feet both with small pumpkins (females are yet to open). Back at the 3 foot section I have a 6+" split lenghtwise which has been there for a couple weeks but the plant just keeps on growing. I treated with Captan but should I also bury this split? The split is open an inch or so. Thanks for any advice! K~

I would leave it uncovered and build a shelter over it to keep it dry. It has been my experience that injured vines burried can lead to rot. I have also seen areas that are cracked heal or scab over if treated and kept dry. John
