Dr. Pumpkin

The plant has recovered beautifully from hail damage. I covered it with plastic for a subsequent storm and the heat due to the greenhouse effect cooked the remaining leaves and the growing tip. ( Yeah I know Dumb. Live and learn.) However the plant has bounced back. I now have numerous secondaries but hard to detect the primary. Where do I select the pumpkin to set??
