Subject:  Severely damaged leaves

If a leaf is severely damaged and beyond hope is it best to cut it off or let it run its course?
My vines are looking really bad near the stump, they seem to be ok a lil farther out. Im not sure if its too much water, not enough water, bug damage or what. They are turning yellow and some of the edges are dried, brown and curling.
I'll post a pic in my diary, dont know why I didnt do that first.

i trimmed my stump area last week, some of the older leaves were brown, broken and i thought why not trim them off and clear up the area.

will clear it up more from now on.
