Hi. Is there a max length on secondary vines or do you just let them keep growing out. I was curious to if they get too long after a while. All our plants appear to be set with their keeper pumpkins now so now I am making sure we are doing the vines right still. I am going to spray with insecticide tonight as leaf hoppers are more prevelant than I would like to see hahaha. Thanks. Steve

Thank you. I thought there might be a max length on these but these pumpkins are tricky hahaha. If i let them get real long i would find out they should be short and if I cut them too short I figured they might need to just keep growing until they stopped hahaha. Steve

ps. I guess I should ask if there is a optimum length the main vine or should I just let her keep going? Thanks. Steve

estaban you are going to get a lot of different opinions on the main. I personally dead head the main after I am sure a pumpkin is set, Others just let it keep growing and some cut it off at the edge of their patch. All methods have had success. So it is up to you which way you want to try.

Thanks on the main vine advice too. I have one that my son broke the main vine off by accident just after the pumpkin on this one. I will use this one as the chopping off main just after pumpkin. I think I will let the others grow for a while and maybe when they are hit about 30 feet ish chop one or two and leave one to just keep going. See which works best hahaha. Of course there is no scientific qualities to this experiment as all seeds are from different pumpkins hahaha. However I will see which method I like doing best hahaha. Thanks again. Steve
