I started 2 seeds per 4" pot when started and transplanted those into three foot wide circular hills. My plants are about a foot wide and tall now and the roots of both plants are still touching each other. It's too late to separate them. Should I cut out one of the two plants at the main stalk to give one strong plant ample room? Or is it ok to have two plants grow together? I have read that many people start 3-5 seeds per hill but I can't find any info on what to do when they get bigger. Any insight into thinning & spacing would be appreciated. Thanks, Kenny.

Uh huh...Don't try to move it. Don't even rip it out. Cut it to avoid disturbing the roots.

3-5 per hill is what you might do with Jack-O-Lanterns not giants.

Im in the same position. I have 3 hills with 2 vines each, how do I decide which to keep? The biggest? The one with more buds? The greenest?
