Hey Kirkdog. new to the game myself this year. my main is 8-9 ft. many buds no flowers yet. i read 1st pumpkin should be a minimum of 10ft away from the stump. i did have a female come in about 3 feet away and i cut it. good luck keep picking brains on this site and go to the chat rooms and ask questions

keep the flowers on for now. Dont pollinate anything up to 10 feet. After that go for it. once you got a pumpkin set for sure, and its your pick, then you can get any developing flowers of if want.

Look at the base of the flower. If it has a bulge right below the petal area, it's a female. The ones with no bulge are males. Males happen early and often. The females you should remove before they bloom if they are too close to the stump or in the wrong place.

I have a female about 3 ft from the stump that probably should be removed. Im sure this is a silly question but exactly how do I remove it? Do I just remove the bud or the bud AND the bulge? I appreciate any info :)
