I would like to have some advices about this:

My patch is more wide than long and i was thinking if it's "better" or not.... OR SAME to have some longer seconderies vines ( mine can be 10 ft each ) than the main vine which can go to 8/9 ft, so the plant can be more wide than long ? thanks for futur advices, Stéphane.

You could always just grow the wide way, then you would have longer than wide. (I know, I'm alot of help:)

I would go for the long main. Some years the secondaries really slow down once the fruit sets. If the patch isn't full, it will stay that way for a while.
