I am not growing giant pumpkins, just jack-o-laterns for the kiddies. This is my second year and I did well last year from the help of this site! This year however all my plants started producing tons of male flowers rather than leaves....woke up this morning to two beautiful blossoms. I have been having back problems so they were not yet in the ground. I forced myself to do it though this morning just in case they are not a loss. My question I guess is is it a loss? I am growing from seeds from last years pumpkins that came from seeds from a store bought pumpkin...are they just losing their ability last year i had a zillion sprouts this year only six...

Early blooming of male flowers is *STRESS* ... Planting them out is one of the better things, betting they were potbound... trim off all the boys post, during, and before bloom stages right now too.

Ok great thanks will do...they were still stranded in their peat pots.... I have a green thumb and am a plant pamperer generally so hopefully we will recover!
