Should make "hills" for my plants before I put them in the patch? I'm thinking just a flat area would be less stress on the main stem, no?

The advantage to a hill is the soil mound warms quicker than the underlying soil.

necessary? is it necessary that we drink our own compost
tea? no but we like the taste of it.
hill or no hill does not effect stem stress.build the soil up to just below the seed leaves, add as some may wash away from watering ,etc.
i like a hill because it eliminates any possible flooding of the young plant. plus as mentioned the soil stays a tad warmer as well.

a gently sloped(sp) hill also helps with the main "laying down"...less of an angle to drop down to!!! Peace, Wayne
