Hi. I took a photo of this as I have not seen this on any of my other vines before. Its main stem appears to be at least two and possibly three main stems bound into one huge main stem. I added the photo to my diary. It is at least twice and possibly three times as tall as other stems of same length plant but same width. It has many extra leaves too - at least double and possibly triple. It is not growing secondary vines as fast as our others though. Still at this point it is our dominant plant. Has anyone seen any like this before and if so how do their pumpkins do. Thanks. Steve

Someone was mentioning something called double vine. Is this good or bad and could this be what this is? Thanks. Steve

It is a bad thing. Yours looks fixable. Get a razor blade and prune all but one on the tip. Sometimes giving it more water also fixes it.

If you have a viable backup started I would replace that plant. I spent half a season making corrections on a plant once, never again here.

i have in the past been able to pull the two vines apart at the tip then grow them out and terminate one end. Glenn

Hi. Thank you. I had not seen anything like this before and started to notice that no secondary vines were sprouting off of it. I have a couple of good back ups so will probably just pull it. Thanks again. Steve

Estaban..I haven't had good luck splitting double vines...but..a few years back I was successful cutting the main vine and retraining a normal looking secondary to replace it as the main vine. This is another option you might think about? Mark
