I would like to try my hand at growing a giant pumpkin this year. Does anyone know when the ideal time to plant in Southeast Tennessee would be? Any growers here from the Chattanooga area? Also, I don't know where to get good seeds, does anyone have a few extra seeds they would like to sell? Thanks.

Spyder, welcome to the insanity!!! LOL!! SE Tenn. can't be to far from Somerset, KY. So...count back 150 days from the 3rd Saturday in September, and that is your planting date...some protection might be needed if this is not after your last frost date. Pick a weigh-off that you would like to enter then start your seeds approx. 120 days prior. State fair in Nashville around Sept 4 or 5, Knoxville Fair same time, Aldart around Oct 10. If you just want to grow and not show (you will want to show) plant anytime after soil warms. I'll be glad to send some seeds from different growers no charge.
