i saw a show(one of the home and garden show)where they put dog food in thier garden.i missed the part why. any advice.......thanks

Maybe the dog died and they had to get rid of it? Probably has to do with readily available nutrients.

I do believe it helps to feed the soil micro-organisms in the soil...creating a larger healthier population to help break down the organics to available nutrients and assist in the roots ability to absorb them......G

Sorry, I meant I put it in for next year already, but it does work, it creates worms and has many nutrients.

Just a thought if you spread dog food around your patch won't you attractt dogs that might dig up your patch looking for the food.lol

After reading this post I decided to roto till some dog food in my patch. I've learned it will attract dogs,opossums,wild turkeys and just about every other kind of bird that you can imagine...LOL

i used vitamin C enriched goldfish pellets this past year. i'll use it again. dog and cat food is a great idea, especially if you have some sort of a composting program where you can break it down a bit first.
