I was wondering if wood ashes are good to use in the patch? I have been dumping them on and i have a nice pile built up. If it alright to use how much do you think would be too much? thanks Buddy Greene

they're a good source of calcium, as well as potassium, magnesium, and phosphorous in smaller amounts. might want to know your pH first, ashes will raise it.

If the ashes are good for the pumpkin patch can it be good for the rest of a vegetable garden also?

I have been scattering ash around the garden for a few years now and dont seem to have done any harm at all to flower plants or vegetables.
just make sure there is no treated timber burnt.

Oh my God, for sure. They work great. We use it for centuries. Even broadcasting it over the garlics. But you have to wash the plants after. Use no more than you would use lime.

Might be wary ot your potasium/phosphurour levels as well as high pH!

And coffe grounds are great as well. Ashes provides Ca 70%, Mg 10%, K 10% and P 5%; coffe grounds, over all, N. And you don't need to compost them, but you can, for sure. Are richer in N than any most of manures and don`t burn the plants as fresh chicken manure can do.

Ashes high pH faster than lime and dolomite, is more soluble

It improves soil texture and stop a little the weeds when broadcasted over the soil and not tilled.
