Ok, so i need help locating some cow/horse manure. Does anyone know where I might be able to find some in south central Indiana? Thanks in advance.

brian try doing what i do, drive out in the country and look for barns where theres cattle or horses around and find the owners and ask them if you can clean the munure out of there barn ive never been told no and i got tons of it in piles and my patch has plenty in it.and allso you can talk to your local high school ag.teacher or 4h sometimes they have barns to keep the kids animals in, they need cleaning too ,i have done that before.and if there is any comericial chicken houses around you can buy it from them but if use chicken munure let set for at least a year before you put it in your patch.hope this helps. paul

Thanks guys, I'll give your ideas a shot. I was also thinking I could try going to the local farmers market and ask them where they get they're manure, if they use it.

i live on a farm and ranch so i have more crap than i know what to do with but for you i would suggest going to a feedlot or farm that has corrals and most of the time they have the crap in piles and im sure if you ask nicely they would give you a few tractor buckets full of poo, believe me you dont want to be shoveling out somebodys barn...

Don't pay for it if you don't have too. We're lucky enough to live in farm country and it takes a bit of time, but you can find it and generally for free and aged. I had luck the first two stops I looked at and had a third as back up just in case I needed more. It helps if your willing to haul it yourself. Be prepared to shovel it and haul it into a pickup truck or if your lucky enough to have a trailer, even better. Last year for 2200 sq foot, we filled our single axle trailer load twice, once with horse and once with cow, and also two-three extra pickup truck loads, and we probably could have used more. But, it seemed to be enough for the season. This year with 6600 sq foot of patch, I'm having to take extra time to find additional sources.

I opened up the phonebook and went down the list of horse stables. About the 4th call I found a 2-3 year old pile that is 30'x15'x6' and they have a loader. I'll be renting a dump trailer and gonna get as much as I can. If I stockpile now I wont have to go collect more for a few years!

I have a cattle ranch and haul manure out to feilds in spring. If you see a manure spreader truck driving down a feild or road follow it. go to the source, good chance you can get loaded with a payloader
