Hi. It is our first year so we are really not sure what to expect. We have one at over 650 and one at over 550 but got about a 1 1/2 to two month late start this year. our vines look really healthy still as we are in central california and our day weather is 80-90 and night is still around sixty. i have been fertilizing the heck out of them with 4 ounces of seaweed extract every other day in a tea and then 4 ounces fish alaska bloom fish emulsion the opposite days in a tea. both are around root area. The vines look great and leaves too - i just posted a photo of patch today. is this enough fertilizer? i figure if they show any signs of over fertilizing i will cut back but so far are not showing any adverse signs. does this sound about right. also i have local hydroponic store getting me some liquid potasium fertilizer. 4 weeks and two day until contest. is it possible to get the bigger one to 800. weather should stay like this until then. it grew about 10 pounds yesterday but i am just not sure what to expect. is it also possible to really bombard them the last week without risk of splitting them. our goal is now 800 with bigger one hahaha. our goal gets bigger every time we reach a new hundred pounds. i am really looking forward to next year as next year we will have better idea of what to expect, what to do and get them in on time hahaha. thank you again for all help and advice as i know we would have had no pumpkins now if we had not had it. steve

Great job Steve! These are very good first year results.
Try joining one of the fine CA grower clubs to glean some their local expertise. CA has some excellent & helpful growers but its a big state & I cannot even begin to refer you a someone local.

i would just suggest letting up on the ferts a little and just relax, a 650 is a very impressive number for first year
