This is crazy. August is usually the hottest part of the summer around here! The last few days have been in the 70's with lows in the mid fifties @ night. Growth has slowed severely over the last few days! Only gained an average of 3" a day on the OTT's since 2 days ago. The weather needs to turn around quickly. I know what will happen! After all the weigh-offs, temps around the world will soar to above average for the time of year. Just like it does every hunting season around here. It gets cold pre-season and then we are out hunting in long sleeve t-shirts and no jacket while the deer are bedded down because it is just too warm for them to move. Stinks doesn't it? Thanks for allowing me to vent!!!!!!

Funny thing about it is it wasn't isolated to one particular area. Midwest got hit, New Hampshire, New York, Connecticut, Mass, Rhode Island, Mid Atlantic States...etc. It will be intersting this year come weigh off time to see what weights come in. Mark

The past ten days here have been low eighties, NO humidity, and little rain. This has certainly been the strangest year weather-wise I can remember.

The jet stream pattern is similar to what the Northeast or at least western NY had in 1992, 1998 and 2004. Very wet years with low pressure systems parked over the top of us all summer long. This year though, with all the hail storms thrown in, has made it that much worse. I’ve had my sprinklers running exactly 2 times in the last 6 weeks. It’s heating up next week and with some rapid growth spurts perhaps on the way, that should be interesting too. Stay tuned:-)

The politicians all left Iowa and took all the hot air with them. That's why we have been in the low 70's the past few days.

my fruit has slowed down in the last few days due to cool weather. My OTT measurements are about 5" also, if the weather gets warmer, will it make the pumpkin all of a sudden start growing again or will the pumpkin stall and end of growth occure?
seems like i was told by everyone the big growth will start at day 20-25, since day 20, my growth has become almost nothing, depressing.
