Hi , I hand pollinated about a week and a half ago and the fruit really took off, seemed like it was growing very rapidly for the first week. Now it seems to have slowed down a lot. Is this normal? It is the size of a tennis ball. Also, a very tiny bite was taken out of it on the side just yesterday, should I seal this up somehow>?

at a week and a half(10 days) I would expect it to be much bigger than a tennis ball. It may not be 'set' (pollination failure) so I would suggest you pollinate others. In addition to that, if it has a bite out of it now it will become a huge divot if it survives. Remove the critter that bit it.

I thought for sure this one had set because two others that didn't set got no bigger than a large marble before they aborted and rotted. This particular one kept growing and growing and all of a sudden slowed down.

I guess it might depend on your weather lis? has it got colder over the last few days? Just a thought!

Hi Lis,
I am not sure what is has been like in CT. but, in MA we got 5 inches of rain in two days. I am hoping a little sunshine will get things growing.
