After three inches of rain last two days, Pumpkin (size of beachball) has several cracks. Should I use silicone to seal?

I would go with another pumper if you have one, the cracks are most likely deadly, but i would not seal with caulk. Apply something like captan and keep dry.
good luck

it seems wierd but thats the reason we water well just before a projected heavy rain so that the pumpkin does not experience a growth spurt and split. sometimes it works .

Thank you. I do have a smaller one on the vine. I was using a shade cover but the sunny side was showing signs of the skin darkening so I was worried about it. Last night I applied latex caulk so we'll see. I just hate to see it go.
