most of you will have started pollinating by now. its good to remember to swing the vine away from the fruit as early as possible. if the fruit will fall on the left you move the vine (from just past the fruit out to the tip) out and away to the right
opposite for fruit on the right side of vine
also --- place a plastic chair or some form of protection for several days after pollinating to protect the young pumpkin from strong rays of sun.

pull the flower off the new pumpkin after a couple days and also keep dirt and splashing off the yound fruit

On time again. Good tip. What if you have more than one on the main on each side..Is now the time to decide on which is the keeper? I have one a 12 feet and 15 feet, havent decided yet.

you can always dig the main back up early a.m. in a week or so and reposition if need be
