can you spell r o u n d u p ?
it works very well. just be sure you dont get overspray on the pumpkin plants. we spray once before the greenhouses come off and once again next week before the wind protection is moved farther away from the plants. do not get any on the p-plants

pull um? thats ok if you have a plant or two in to work on. but when your tending 13 plants you dont have time
i useed to pull by hand and found myself spending precious time pulling weeds rather than working the plant

I'm just a new guy but I agree with pap, I have 2 areas one is 60' x 100' and the other is 15' x 100' there is no way I would be able to take care of the plants, weed by hand, work a fulltime job and take care of my family, roundup worked great and I havent had any damage to the plants, thanks for the advice to use it!

WAY-GO........weed as you go.....and as an added bonus when the weeds are knee high and above they are an excellent wind break!

weeds also aid in the spread of any diseases they may have. killin um deader than a door nail with round up
we will do our second application for the returning weeds today. within a week they will be gonezo
anymore that show up after this are minor and not a problem

Won't applying round up end up in the soil and be soaked up by the pumpkin.Or do you just not spray it near the pumpkin and pull the weeds near the pumpkin instead. I know I have heard people say watch for over spraying. Thanks

I am pulling as I go.. once that vine starts shading things off the weeds IN the plant are minimal, and I am weeding off as the plants grow. We have too many days of strong winds with gusts to want to leave patch totally bare, so. It's a catch 22. I am tending three and a huge tomato patch, and hand pulling...

sis1 From what I've heard Roundup is soaked through the leaves not the roots.

pap? i've got bad weeds too. on one hand, I find little suprises down in the weeds, but on the other side, i can't figure out what the heck is going on. i need to spend two days out there getting everything straight, but am worried i'll end up pulling things that don't need pulling. if I round up, what's the easiest way to keep it off the plants? towels? blankets? i think i need a couple of gallons. heheh

I'm the original posting for this message. But does anyone know if he covers the plants with plastic and sprays roundup quickly will the plants die or too risky?
