I'm just getting anxious I guess but I would think my plants should be starting to vine the haven't even layed down yet, I have (3) that were planted fairly early... If anyone is bored would you mind taking a look at my diary and see if I coiuld be doing more, I drench the ground with fish/seaweed every week and foliar feed the leaves every week with 10/15/10 oh and they have plenty of water any suggestion or opinions would be great...

What has your weather been like? I have two generic Atlantic Pumpkins that where started about the same time as you did. One was planted in the garden right before a cold spell hit. The other I brought indoors. They where both the same size. The one that I took indoors is now alot bigger and I think it has a main started. I think my night temps are to cool still for very much growth. I have big leaves on my older plants but they are not that much ahead of the others.

right now the weather is perfect mid 80's during the day and low to upper 60's at night, and around 50% humidity we have had a lot of rain lately like 7" a week or so ago in a few days, but below is the weather for May, also i believe it is starting to vine the main is just a few inches long, I just feal like I am behind, but this is only my first year so I don't really have any past experiance....

Over all you are warmer than what my weather has been. We have had alot of lows in the 30's. It is warming up now. Today is 81. We have lots of sunshine even when it is cold. You get more rain in a week than I get in two years. We did have one week of hot weather. A few days where high in the 90's to 100 on one day. I left the misters going all day then. I could see them grow more durring that heat spell.

Your pumpkin weather has just started getting right the last 3 days. If your temps stay that way you will see an incredible jump by the end of the week. Be very careful putting fertilizer on your plants right now. If you cause the main vine to get to aggressive and grow to fast you take a big risk of it snapping before it lays down to run. Once it lays down then go back to the ferts. Concentrate on water right now but don't over do it.

Keep in mind that no matter how much nitorgen yuo put doen or have in the soil, the soil temp has to be in the mid 60's before the soil can release the nitorgen to the plant. When this happens, the plant will begin growing in leaos and bound compared to the previous month and even to the previous week. This is why sometimes, people say that planting 3 weeks later then everyone else is ok as all plants seem to even out in time for fruit set.
