Just a heads up for all the newer growers to the hobby.
There are so many things and little tricks of the trade (to speak) that it would be very very beneficial if you folks could find an experienced - veteran grower in your area. Then ask if you could drop by once a week to see how they manage there plants, etc.
Even if you need to drive an hour once a week to learn its really going to be worth it to you. Many people get out of the hobby after a short period of time due to a lack of success.
A good buddy with experience can solve all that disapointment.

With gas at 4.00 and more a gallon Pap, I wished I lived closer to you, I would be the peskiest grower you ever saw, with questions all over the place, and camped out at your doorstep, LOL!
And point well taken, find a grower locally and ask the questions, most are willing to help and if they can't find an answer someone usually can. Third year growing with lots to learn, but certainly not bored with it yet.
As my cousins say, they have created a monster, LOL! I can only hope that includes a monster pumpkin this year as well.

Thats for sure, I found some one close who knows alot about pumpkin growing. I first found out about him when we drove by last fall and there was a 792 pound pumpkin in his yard, I had to stop and talk to him. He already has showed me a few pointers, and when I sould'nt get my seeds to germinate he stepped in and gave me a plant. Special thanks to R. Janicek also for the plant he gave me.

You can stop by here, I'll grill a nice thick chunk of protein and stock the fridge in your honor...
I'm making mistakes six weeks ahead of the rest of the growers here... sigh. Then trying NOT to repeat myself on my fair vines. As it is I'm on melt break trying to convince my two pedigreeds to lay out like I want them to and burying nodes right now, and convincing the one that it does NOT need to put out about 87,261 male flowers before it breaks 8' .....
I think I'm 100-300 miles from anyone else if not more. I'll be there at 5 am with my bug-be-gone perfume and my flashlight for bootcamp if you'll let me in...and I can figure out how to crate myself for shipping.
